Light-Up Monster Headbands

If you are looking for a quick and easy Halloween costume, look no further! All the materials needed for the Light-Up Monster Headband can be purchased at your local drug store. Best of all, these headbands light up, making them perfect for nighttime trick-or-treating. These are best constructed by adults and teenagers, but there are a few steps that young children can do. Check out my variations to see all the different looks you can achieve.
- Plain headband
- 2 LED lights
- 2 ping pong balls
- Permanent markers
- Hot glue
- Scissors
- Awl
- Pipe cleaners, fabric, sequins, rhinestones, cloth, ribbion (all are optional)

The first step is easily done by a child of any age. Decorate the ping pong balls to create two monster eyes!

The next few steps are best for adults or teenagers only... use the awl to poke a hole in the bottom of both of the monster eyes.

Push the tip of a pair of scissors through the tiny awl hole and twist the scissors around to expand the hole for the LED lights.

Now push the little LED light bulb into the hole. (If the light doesn't fit, just use the scissors again to make the hole larger.)

Use the hot gun to apply glue in two spots on the top of the headband, one for each eye, and stick the base of each LED light to the glue.

Now it's time to decorate! Use all the creative craft supplies you can imagine to make the monster headband you most desire!

Be sure to leave the on and off switches exposed so you can turn on your light-up eyeballs!
Here are a few of my quick and easy monster headbands! I've even added more than two eyes!
