Ninja Nunchucks

Ninja Nunchucks
Overview:

Ninjas hold a special appeal for their stealth and cunning abilities. Unfortunately, weapons cause harm to our children. The last thing any caregiver wants is for one child to harm another while role playing with weapons. So, I've come up with a safe and fun solution for ninja nunchucks. Made mostly out of foam core, this craft is a safer, fun option for you and your kids.

5 - 15 minutes
Step 1:

Cut the tube of foam core so you have two pieces about 8 inches long.

Step 2:

Next, cut the pipe cleaner in half. Each piece should be roughly 6 inches.

Step 3:

Using your pen or pencil, poke a hole through the foam core on one end of each foam core piece. The hole should be about an inch from the end of the tube.

Step 4:

Stick each pipe cleaner through each hole. Now join the pipe cleaner ends together by twisting them. This is sort of like twisting a candy wrapper! You will have a ring shape on one end of each nunchuck.

Step 5:

Cut a piece of yarn about a foot long.

Step 6:

Tie each end of yarn to one of the pipe cleaner loops. In essence you have bound the two foam core pieces together creating your homemade, injury-avoiding NUNCHUCKS!

Step 7:

Now you and your child can have a blast battling bad guys!
