Step 1:

This part is for grown-ups only! Cut the potato in half.

Step 2:

Place the potato with its cut side down and trim off the edges to make a square. You will repeat this four times, once for each side of the square.

Step 3:

Take the other, uncut half of the potato and lay it on its side. Slice some more off the bottom (about half way up the cut half, so now you'll have a fourth of a potato which is circular.)

Step 4:

Now, using your sponge, dab a little bit of paint onto the bottom of the circular-shaped potato.

Step 5:

Stamp the circular potato once facing up to the left (at 10 o'clock on a clockface) and then repeat facing it to the right at (2 o'clock). You'll want these two circles to overlap a little.

Step 6:

By now you should see the makings of a heart.

Step 7:

Apply some paint on the square stamp of the potato with a sponge.

Step 8:

Next, angle the square so that it will make a diamond shape right at the bottom of the heart. (The diamond stamp should overlap the two painted circles.)

Step 9:

Ta-da! You have a gorgeous potato stamp heart!

Step 10:

Once your paint is dry, you can use more paint or markers to create further designs with your heart like faces or a cheerful greeting!
