How to
Step 1

Decide which letters or design you would like to create.  Draw that on a piece of foamcore or cardboard.  Your letters or design should be at least 6-8 inches tall.  Carefully cut your design out of your foamcore or cardboard.

Step 2

Once completed cut a small notch at one end of your design.  This is where you will begin your yarn.

Step 3

Place the end of your yarn into the notch you just cut.

Step 4

You need to secure the excess yarn to the foamcore.  I prefer using hot glue.  You can also use tape.  Place a small bead of hot glue over the yarn so it is secured to the foamcore.

Step 5

Begin wrapping your yarn around your foamcore.  Begin at the notch and continue for as long as you like.  Here I am wrapping the yarn tightly.  You can also wrap your yarn loosely if you prefer. When you have finished with your first color make another notch in the foamcore. You can use this notch to end this color and to begin your next color.  Snip off your first piece off and glue that down.  You should be able to use the same dab of glue to secure the second color.

Step 6

Continue in this manner until you have covered the foamcore to your liking.

Step 7

You can also use washi tape to cover your foamcore.  You can alternate tape and yarn or use tape to cover the entire surface.

Step 8

Once you are finished glue a clothespin to the letter in order to hang it.  You can glue it perpendicular to the top of the letter or perpendicular to the side, depending on how you would like to hang the letters.

Step 9

Once the clothespin is attached just clip it to the ribbon.

Step 10

You can now hang your letter or letters whereever you like.
