Who's got the Magic Wand?

A calm and compact game, it’s perfect for the end of the party
Supplies
Blindfold or oversized top hat (or the child can close their eyes)
"Magic Wand" or any kind of treat/prize
Setup

1. Select one person to be the “Magician.”
2. Everyone else creates a circle around the magician.
3. The Magician is either blindfolded or covers his/her eyes.

How to Play

1. Once the Magician's eyes are covered the magic wand is passed around the circle.
2. The children in the circle chant “Magician, magician, answer true, who has hidden your wand from you?” (you may set the number of times you chant this ahead of time - or have the magician say the number of times right before he closes his eyes).
3. At the end of the chant, all the players put their hands behind their back, concealing who might have the wand.
4. The Magician then takes off the blindfold and has 3 tries to guess who has stolen the wand. If the magician guesses correctly, he/she selects the next person to be in the center. If the magician is incorrect, the person with the wand goes into the center.

Variations

1. This game can be played standing up or sitting down.
2. “Magician” and “Wand” can be substituted for a number of different ideas:
Pirate-Treasure
Doggy-Bone
Mermaid-Voice
Princess-Crown
Squirrel-Walnut
Scientists-Atom
3. The game can also be played with a “treat” where the person in the middle gets the treat if they guess who has it. Or the person who has the treat gets to keep it if the person in the center guesses incorrectly (just make sure you have enough treats for everyone at the end).

Tips

Encourage the circle to pass the wand quickly - if the players are on the young side they may need a bit of assistance with this.
