How to
Step 1

Using your X-acto knife carefully cut rings off the end of your pipe insulation.  Each of these rings should be approximately 1/2 inch wide.

Step 2

Depending on how long you would like your chain to be you will need to cut between 12 and 40 rings from the insulation.  These will be the links of your chain.

Step 3

You will also need to cut four pieces of foam approximately 2 1/2 inches long.  These will be the cuff.

Step 4

Each of the rings has a small slit.  Open up one of the rings at that slit.  You may need to use your X-Acto knife.

Step 5

Place one end of your opened ring through a closed ring.  Place a glue dot on one end of the slit ring.

Step 6

Glue the slit ring shut using a glue dot.  Continue doing this with additional pieces.

Step 7

Continue doing this until you have a chain that is the length you want.

Step 8

To create the cuff, open up one of the 2 1/2 inch pieces at its slit.  Line one entire edge of the foam with glue dots.

Step 9

Attach one 2 1/2 inch piece to the second piece edge to edge, using the glue dots.  Next wrap a piece of 1" duct tape around the seam you have just glued together.

Step 10

Attach one chain link to the cuff using glue dots.

Step 11

Use some black duct tape to reinforce the connection between the cuff and the chain link.

Step 12

Attach you long chain to the link you attached to the cuff.  All done.
